Hello everybody! I have a question for all those people who live already in Finland: do you already have any plans for the weekend? If the answer is no, I have something really cool to suggest you. Have you ever noticed UFF shops around Helsinki or Finland? Well, I have to admit that I am a big fan of secondhand shops, because I have a very particular taste and I don't really follow any fashions, since I have my own style and I've always been into vintage.
UFF is a chain of secondhand shops, which was founded in 1987 as a not for profit, non-governmental humanitarian foundation. Its main goal is to contribute and to promote ecological, social and economic sustainability worldwide in order to enable people and in particular the less privileged ones, to increase their possibilities for reaching their full potential as human beings. There are in total 13 shops in Helsinki, two in Tampere, Espoo and Vantaa, one in Turku, Jyväskylä and Hyvinkää. Here's the complete list with their opening hours.
Moreover I know another secret about UFF... Do you want to me to reveal it? In case you want to get rid of those clothes you don't use anymore, around Finland you can find a wide range of UFF keräyspisteet, collection points, where you can drop your clothes in the containers like this in the picture, and here is the map that shows where you can find them.
But now let's go back to our topic... so do you know what is happening this weekend? It's the UFF TASARAHA!!! This Saturday 06/03 you'll find all the clothes and items in every UFF at just 1€! You don't believe me? Well, here's the proof. Every two months this shop advertises this event both online and in their window shops, by posting the yellow "billboard" I put as a cover image of this article. The tasaraha starts by selling everything from 8€ on the first day and 1€ on the last day.
I love when there is this special offer at UFF, because I usually find so many cool and particular things that I cannot find in normal cloth shops. There will be always that unique piece that will steal your heart at UFF. And in the biggest shops you can also find a book section and on this occasion all books usually cost 0.10€ per piece. To be honest I'm also a book fan and since I still cannot read normal books in Finnish, I go for children's books :)
What I personally like here in Finland is that shopping at second hand shops is not considered as a bad thing, instead it is seen as a very good choice for the environment and a real trend, in particular between youngsters. But why do Finns prefer to buy from second-hand shops? As many of you already know, Finland is a very expensive country to live in, so since everything is quite pricey, many people prefer to buy items and clothes from thrift stores for cheap. Another reason why Finns prefer to buy used to new is that they are pretty environmentalist as a population. So both recycling and reusing are definitely seen as the best choices for the whole planet as nowadays it's well known that the fashion industry is one of the most polluting in the world.

Ciao a tutti! Ho una domanda per coloro che abitano già in Finlandia: avete già dei programmi per il fine settimana? Se la risposta è no, io ho qualcosa di veramente interessante da suggerirvi. Avete mai notato i negozi UFF sparsi in quasi tutta la Finlandia? Beh, devo ammettere che sono un grande fan dei negozi di seconda mano, perché ho un gusto molto particolare e non seguo nessuna moda, dato che ho uno stile tutto mio e mi è sempre piaciuto il vintage.
UFF è una catena di negozi di seconda mano, fondata nel 1987 come fondazione umanitaria non governativa e senza scopo di lucro. Il suo obiettivo principale è quello di contribuire e promuovere la sostenibilità ecologica, sociale ed economica in tutto il mondo al fine di consentire alle persone, in particolare a quelle meno agiate, di aumentare le loro possibilità di raggiungere il loro pieno potenziale in qualità di esseri umani. Inoltre conosco un altro segreto degli UFF ... Volete che ve lo sveli? Nel caso vi voleste sbarazzare di quei vestiti che non mettete più, in giro per la Finlandia potete trovare una vasta gamma di keräyspisteet (punti di raccolta) marcati UFF, dove potete depositare tutti i vostri vestiti nei contenitori come questo nella foto, ed ecco la mappa che mostra dove potrete trovare questi contenitori.
Ma ora torniamo al nostro argomento ... quindi sapete cosa succede questo sabato? C'è l'UFF TASARAHA !!! Questo sabato 06/03 troverai tutti i vestiti e gli oggetti in ogni UFF a solo 1 €! Non mi credete? Bene, ecco la prova. Ogni due mesi questo negozio pubblicizza questo evento sia online che nelle sue vetrine, affiggendo il "cartellone" giallo che ho messo come immagine principale di questo articolo. L'evento tasaraha inizia il primo giorno vendendo tutto da 8€ fino all'ultimo giorno tutto a 1€.
Adoro quando c'è un'offerta speciale da UFF, perché di solito trovo così tante cose interessanti e particolari che non riesco a trovare nei normali negozi di abbigliamento. Ci sarà sempre quel pezzo unico che ti ruberà il cuore da UFF. E nei negozi più grandi puoi trovare anche una sezione di giocattoli libri e in questa occasione ogni pezzo costa solitamente 0,10 €. Ad essere sincera, sono anche una fan dei libri e dato che ancora non riesco a leggere i libri normali in finlandese, opto per quelli per i bambini e qui ce ne sono degli esempi :)
Quello che personalmente mi piace qui in Finlandia è che lo shopping nei negozi di seconda mano non è considerato una cosa negativa, ma è visto come un'ottima scelta per l'ambiente e una vera e propria tendenza in particolare tra i giovani. Ma perché i finlandesi preferiscono acquistare nei negozi di seconda mano? Come molti di voi già sanno, la vita è molto cara in Finlandia, quindi poiché tutto è così costoso, molte persone preferiscono acquistare articoli e vestiti ai negozi dell'usato. Un altro motivo per cui i finlandesi preferiscono comprare l'usato al nuovo è perché sono piuttosto ambientalisti come popolazione, quindi sia il riciclo che il riutilizzo sono sicuramente visti come le scelte migliori per il bene del pianeta in quanto al giorno d'oggi è risaputo che l'industria della moda è una delle più inquinanti al mondo.
