Hey there guys! Today the protagonist of this article is not me, but a girl who is into rock music and a big HIM fan just like me. We met precisely two years ago at Ville Valo & the Agents gig at Tavastia and since then we became friends. She left her motherland Italy to move to the country of her dreams: Finland (just like me again, uh? :p). Her name is Laura Zuccaro and I decided to dedicate this article to her, because she recently started making handmade jewels by opening an online shop on etsy.com. The first time I noticed the Valoisa Design instagram account, I have to admit that the jewel collection instantly caught my attention and once I found out who was behind the account, I straight away decided to write an article on this new small business. Last Saturday I made my first purchase on her etsy shop as that morning I saw there was a new entry in the collection, with which it was love at first sight. Here are the pictures.

<< Hello Laura! First of all I wanted to thank you for accepting to be interviewed and telling us more about your new jewel collection. Let's start with our first question: how did you come up with the idea of starting this new business?>>
Laura:<<Hello Chiara, thank you for this opportunity. I'll start replying abruptly to your first question: The idea of starting this business came up because I wanted to do something new and get in the game. Opening a shop on Etsy is very easy and fast. >>
Chiara: <<How did the name of the brand come to your mind? And how come did you pick a Finnish name.>>
L: <<The name Valoisa came to my mind very easily and I didn't have to think too much about it, since this word has a very beautiful meaning and in my opinion it suited well a jewelry brand. I picked a Finnish name, because my goal is to mainly sell here in Finland, but you can also buy my products from abroad. >>
C: <<How did you start creating handmade jewelry? Did you already do it in the past?>>
L: <<I've always wanted to create handmade jewelry, but never had the courage to do it seriously. Now I want to get in the game and I must admit that day by day I'm getting passionate about it!>>
C: << What is your biggest source of inspiration when you make jewels? >>
L: << The inspiration comes from things that surround me such as colors, shapes, etc. Also nature has its influence in the creation of my jewels. I also like making jewels that I would wear myself, so I follow my personal taste a lot. Then I let my imagination go and play both with colors and materials. I like to create jewels that recall nature, for example I use lava stones from the Mount Etna, and at the moment I'm making pendants in resin containing dried flowers. Natural materials are my favorites.>>
C: << Wow, you use even the Etna lava stones! Off course, it makes sense, since I forgot to mention that Laura is a Sicilian doc, so we should not be surprised if for some of her creations she has chosen to use those black colored stones that recall her motherland! But now I want to ask you another question: do you also use jewelry in everyday life? >>
L: << In everyday life I like to use jewels when I can. Now I'm working in a clinic so I can't use them. In my free time I always wear bracelets and earrings, and necklaces never miss as well! >>
C: << Do you prefer wearing handmade or manufactured jewelry? >>
L: << I definitely prefer handmade jewelry. I especially love unique pieces. >>
C: << I must say that I understand you pretty well, since I also prefer buying handmade jewels, unique pieces in particular, and if your creations have bewitched me, this explains a lot. Do you only ship to Finland or all over Europe? >>
L: << I ship all over Europe! Maybe in the future worldwide, who knows? >>
C: << Do you have already plans for the future of this brand? >>
L: <<In the meantime I really hope to sell more and to make valoisa design more known in Finland, then my aim would be to sell my jewels in small shops or flea markets, this would be the best !!!
C: << Well, then I wish you a lot of luck for the future of this small business and I hope to buy very soon again from your beautiful Etsy shop. >>

Ciao ragazzi! Oggi la protagonista di questo articolo non sono io, ma una ragazza che come me è appassionata di musica rock e in particolare fan della mia band preferita HIM. Io e Laura ci siamo conosciute precisamente due anni fa al concerto di Ville Valo & the Agents e da lì siamo diventate amiche. Anche lei come me ha lasciato la sua madrepatria Italia per trasferirsi nel paese dei suoi sogni: la Finlandia. Il suo nome è Laura Zuccaro e ho deciso di dedicare questo articolo a lei, poiché ha da poco iniziato a creare gioielli aprendo anche un negozio online su etsy.com. Appena ho notato l'account di instagram Valoisa Design, devo dire che le creazioni di gioielli hanno catturato la mia attenzione all'istante, che una volta scoperto chi c'era dietro a questo profilo ho subito deciso di scrivere un bell'articolo in merito. Sabato scorso ho fatto il mio primo acquisto sul suo negozio etsy, poiché ieri mattina appena svegliata ho notato che c'era una new entry nella collezione di cui mi sono innamorata perdutamente e li ho comprati subito.
Ed eccoci qua iniziamo la nostra bella chiacchierata.
Chiara: << Ciao Laura, innanzitutto ci tenevo a ringraziarti per aver accettato di essere intervistata e dirci di più sulla tua nuova linea di gioielli. Partiamo subito con la prima domanda: come ti è venuta l'idea di aprire questo nuovo business? >>
Laura: << Ciao Chiara, grazie a te per questa bella opportunità ! Rispondo subito alla tua prima domanda: l’idea di aprire questa attività è nata dalla voglia di mettermi in gioco, aprire un negozio su Etsy è facile e veloce, un buon modo per provare qualcosa di nuovo. >>
C: << Come è nato il nome di questo brand? Perché hai scelto un nome finlandese? >>
L: <<Il nome Valoisa mi è venuto in mente in maniera molto semplice e senza pensarci su, perché è una parola con un bel significato e secondo me anche adatta ad un brand di gioielli. Ho voluto il nome in finlandese perché vorrei principalmente vendere qui, ma ovviamente i miei prodotti si possono acquistare anche dall’estero.>>
C: <<Come è nata la passione per i gioielli fatti a mano? Lo hai mai fatto in passato?>>
L: <<Ho sempre voluto creare gioielli fatti a mano, ma non ho mai avuto il coraggio di farlo sul serio. Adesso ho voluto mettermi in gioco e devo dire che mi sta appassionando sempre di più!>>
C: <<A cosa ti ispiri quando crei i gioielli?>>
L: <<L’ispirazione nasce soprattutto da ciò che mi sta intorno, colori, forme, anche la natura ha il suo effetto nella creazione dei miei gioielli. Poi mi piace anche realizzare gioielli che io stessa indosserei, quindi seguo molto il mio gusto personale. Dopodiché lascio andare la fantasia e gioco sia con i colori che con i materiali. Mi piace creare gioielli che richiamano la natura per esempio uso pietre laviche del vulcano Etna e adesso sto realizzando pendenti con fiori secchi in resina. I materiali naturali sono i miei preferiti.>>
C: <<Wow, addirittura con le pietre laviche dell'Etna! Ah, ma certo mi sono scordata di dirvi che la nostra Laura è una siciliana doc, quindi non ci dobbiamo meravigliare se per alcune delle sue creazioni ha scelto proprio di utilizzare quelle pietre dal colore nero che ricordano la sua terra natia! Ma ora mi viene di farti un'altra domanda: anche nella vita di tutti i giorni utilizzi gioielli?>>
L: <<Nella vita di tutti i giorni mi piace utilizzare gioielli quando posso, adesso sto lavorando in una clinica quindi non posso utilizzarli. Nel tempo libero indosso sempre bracciali e orecchini, anche le collane non possono mai mancare dal mio guardaroba!>>
C: <<Preferisci indossare gioielli fatti a mano o gioielli prodotti in serie?>>
L: <<Preferisco sicuramente gioielli fatti a mano. Adoro soprattutto gioielli unici e particolari.>>
C: <<Devo dire che ti capisco, perché molto spesso anche io preferisco i gioielli fatti a mano, i pezzi unici in particolare, non a caso le tue creazioni mi hanno stregato :p. Dimmi una cosa: spedisci solo in Finlandia o in tutta Europa?>>
L: <<Spedisco in tutta Europa! Magari col tempo anche in tutto il mondo, chissà ?>>
C: <<Hai già dei progetti in vista per il futuro di questo brand?>>
L: <<Intanto spero di ingranare un po’ con le vendite, dopodiché mi piacerebbe magari vendere questi gioielli anche in piccoli negozi o mercatini, questo sarebbe il massimo!!!>>
C: <<Bene, allora io ti auguro tanta tanta fortuna per il futuro di questa piccola impresa e spero di comprare molto presto dal tuo bell'etsy shop.>>
